What we offer

Whether you are experienced sailors or absolute beginners who want to ‘have a go’, we can tailor-make the trip to suit you. We offer skippered yacht charter from Cardiff on board our 40 foot Beneteau First 405, Lady Amalia.

You can book a single berth on a planned trip, or you can book the whole boat and design your own trip with the skipper, James Nicholls.

Skipper

James Nicholls is a Commercial Yacht master with over 20 years’ experience. Over the years, he has skippered Lady Amalia and other charter yachts, delivered yachts around Europe and won several racing prizes. James will help you learn about the boat and how to handle her, if you would like to be involved.

He is also a qualified food handler, radio operator and first-aider.

Crew

Sometimes a crew member will be on board to assist James.

The Boat

Lady Amalia is a mature lady but she is a brilliant, steady training platform, capable of sailing the Atlantic with ease. With her friendly and capable crew, she is well-equipped to take you for a gentle weekend trip or for a hardworking, long passage.

Accommodation on board

There are 3 cabins. The skipper and crew usually have the fore cabin. Guests are accommodated in the 2 aft cabins; the port cabin sleeps 2 in a double berth; the starboard cabin sleeps 3 in a double berth and a pilot berth. The second heads are located between the aft cabins. 2 additional guests can be accommodated in the saloon.

The saloon and galley are spacious and well-equipped. There is shore power when in marinas, so mains electrical items can be used; such as portable DVD players, hairdryers, chargers etc.

Catering

On board we provide tea, coffee, soft drinks, boiled sweets and biscuits. Guests need to provide all other food and drink. There is a Morrison’s supermarket within walking distance of Lady Amalia’s berth in Cardiff. The Cardiff Bay retail park, with a large Asda, is about 5 minutes’ drive away.

In the galley there is a large fridge, a small gas oven and grill, and a 2-ring hob. All kitchen equipment is provided.

Safety equipment

The boat is fully coded and carries a life raft, life jackets and harnesses, fire extinguishers, flares, DSC radio and up to date navigation equipment, etc.
